The #Submodel Template "IDTA 02102 Fire Protection on Railway Vehicles" provides a standardized framework for representing fire protection relevant information for #railway vehicles in accordance with the underlying standards. It supports the consistent digital exchange of fire protection data between suppliers and railway manufacturers and provides a structured basis for safety documentation. Fire protection certificates are essential elements of the safety documentation for railway vehicles. They are based on fire test and assessment reports according to EN 45545-2 and are issued for individual materials or components, or for defined groupings of components. The Submodel Template covers manufacturer-related data, fire protection classification and compliance information, as well as fire-relevant material properties. As part of an Asset Administration Shell (#AAS), the standardized representation enables harmonized data exchange throughout the railway vehicle supply chain. It also supports the efficient maintenance and updating of fire protection information throughout its entire life cycle, providing a consistent digital foundation for the management of safety-relevant data. Corresponding files are available on GitHub: https://lnkd.in/es_sqRjb Overview of all IDTA Submodels of the AAS: https://lnkd.in/d-g69C2W Special thanks are addressed to all who have contributed to this Submodel: Sebastian Käbisch, Siemens Oliver Kramer, Siemens Dr. Sebastian Eicke, HARTING Technology Group Dennis Feulner, Siemens Paul Vollenbruch, Siemens

Two days, 140 participants, 16 presentations and three hands-on workshops – each offered three times – made this year’s IDTA Tech Days a successful meeting point for the community around the Asset Administration Shell (#AAS) in Frankfurt. Across the two days, the programme covered a broad range of topics shaping the AAS ecosystem: from Digital Product Passports (#DPP), regulations and #interoperable data exchange to data spaces, #AI and new developments for the AAS. The workshops provided an opportunity to go beyond presentations and explore practical applications and technical questions hands-on. Just as important was the exchange between participants. Discussions, networking and shared experiences brought together different perspectives from industry, research and technology development. A big thank you to the sponsors M&M Software GmbH and conplement AG, all speakers, workshop hosts and participants for making the #IDTATechDays2026 a full success. We are already looking forward to bringing the community together again at the IDTA Tech Days next year!

At the #IDTA Tech Days in #Frankfurt am Main, another set of sessions explored how the Asset Administration Shell (#AAS) evolved from a standardized way of representing asset information towards connected data ecosystems and new application scenarios. The key focus of one session block was on data #ecosystems and the exchange of data with the AAS. Peter Amon (Siemens) presented how AAS data space concepts can be realised with MX-Port Leo, while Sandeep Rudra (IDTA) introduced the Asset Data Exchange Hub (#ADX Hub) and its approach to sharing AAS data across organisations. Complementing these perspectives, Prof. NamHyun Yoo (경남대학교) discussed the realization of data spaces in Korea and the extension of AAS ontologies. The programme also looked at emerging technologies and the next stages of the AAS ecosystem. Dr. Thiago Weber Martins (SAP) explored #AI and MCP capabilities in the AAS, while Thomas Kuhn (Fraunhofer IESE) and Dr. Christian Mosch (IDTA ) shared insights from the #DAVID project and their implications for the AAS ecosystem. In the last presentation, Juilee Tikekar (IDTA) outlined the AAS Technology Roadmap 2027, providing an outlook on upcoming developments and topics for the AAS community. The IFC-AAS Connector for Building Equipment is being developed to establish a link between Building Information Modeling (#IFC) and the Asset Administration Shell (#AAS). A recent workshop brought together experts from IDTA, buildingSMART Deutschland, academia and industry partners to further develop the connector and define the scope for Version 1.0. The objective is to connect information from building models with #standardized digital product information and make it accessible across different stages of the asset lifecycle. This creates a link between information generated during planning and construction and information needed later for operation, maintenance and other lifecycle activities. The workshop resulted in a clear focus for Version 1.0 with a minimal connector model containing only the information required to establish the IFC-AAS linkage. Use cases will be developed in parallel. The work illustrates how the AAS can be applied to connect structured asset information across the building lifecycle while building on established standards such as IFC. We look forward to the next steps and further development. See also the use case “Standardized linking of building, asset and operational data in the operational phase” to find out how IFC-based building information and AAS-based asset descriptions are already linked: https://lnkd.in/eTH4SYpj
