Jennifer Gray was on a video conference call with her Energy Efficiency team when she was suddenly hit with the worst headache of her entire life. DYK the life of a utility pole is 40 to 50 years? Electric Field Operations Supervisor Craig Johnson’s team maintains approximately 419,000 wooden poles across 149 Connecticut communities. And starting this year, we’re moving to a 10-year inspection cycle. That means we’ll be checking 42,000 poles annually. When our inspectors find a pole that’s no longer safe, we replace it on the double to keep power flowing reliability and our communities safe. Pole patrol is on a roll!

Preparing for severe weather like the nor'easter expected this weekend starts long before it's in the forecast. Trees are the number one cause of power outages for our customers during storms, so our crews are out every day trimming and removing hazardous trees along our overhead power lines. Hear from our Manager of Vegetation Management Christopher Gonzalez about how this year-round work is strengthening our electric system and helping our communities be storm ready.

At the heart of every transplant journey is a family in need of aid, and that's why we're proud to partner with Love from Lincoln to support their "A Night at the Riverhouse" Gala. Proceeds from their event raised funds that will go directly back into the community by providing assistance to local families in their time of need. Learn more about this amazing organization at the link in our comments.

DYK approximately 10% of our employees are military veterans? The skills and dedication they bring to the job have a large impact—especially during emergency restorations. Hear from a few members of our Veterans group why events like Harbor Care’s NH Veteran Stand Down are an important way to reach and support those who have served. Shoutout to Christopher Stock, Joseph Hoebeke, and John Porazinski!
