📅 13. 🤖 AI is reshaping how we learn, search for information, and conduct research. On August 19, colleagues joined around 90 members of the Swiss library community for the second AI workshop organized by ETH-Bibliothek, exchanging perspectives on AI literacy and emerging AI tools. One thing became clear: helping students and researchers navigate AI is now just as important as helping them navigate information itself. 📸 Images courtesy of ETH-Bibliothek

Can building materials make us sick, or healthier? ETH Material Hub features an exhibition on the impact of building materials and other materials on human health. The material display provides an overview of the best-known hazardous substances through emission and exposure cards and draws attention to potentially problematic materials. It also presents building materials considered harmless to health, as well as materials that may actively contribute to healthier indoor environments. ETH Zürich is planning an 80-metre tower on its Hönggerberg campus. The HWS building will house the Department of Computer Science (D-INFK), ETH Zürich, the ETH-Bibliothek and the gta Archive, which will gain climate-controlled archive rooms and new exhibition spaces. HWS is intended to become a public meeting place with lecture halls, exhibition and event spaces, catering and retail outlets, as well as the library and a service centre in the lower storeys. Seating steps and workspaces create room for learning, working and socialising. The high-rise will remain open to the public even at its upper levels: a panoramic restaurant with a bar and conservatory is planned for the 19th floor, offering views over Zurich and the Alps. The project is being planned by a team led by Losinger Marazzi SA as lead contractor, together with Itten+Brechbühl AG, MAK architecture and Uniola Landschaftsarchitektur | Stadtplanung. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028. Visualisations: ETH Zurich / Losinger Marazzi AG #architecture #competition #campus
