3 days of Postgres Summit US went as one. Really like the event vibe, really like the event talks. Like to hear how changed the narrative around AI. People are less suspicious and less excited. The discussions are not about magic, but real-life use cases. How to automate processes with AI, how to build secure infrastructure, how to solve old and new tasks with AI. There are no best practices yet. It’s time when people create these best practices: share ideas, experience, what went wrong, what went well. Interesting that in this new AI era, in-person events make a lot of sense again. During the lunch people discuss logical replication, data centers in space and zero conversion of the technical blog posts written by AI. Can we apply the uncanny valley term to texts or images? Have we talked about Postgres? Of course. But it was much more than just Postgres. Not because of AI, but because of community. I can’t imagine the same level of openness and involvement at any commercial event. Real power of open source.

  • 🦾 DBeaver held its first-ever hackathon. Four teams were challenged to create four brand-new DBeaver connectors from scratch. There was one important rule: AI had to be used throughout the whole process. At the end of the day, the hackathon was successful. The new connectors can become production-ready connectors for DBeaver users. After a round of voting, congrats to the gold medal winners: 🥇 Ivan Gorshechnikov, Kseniia Guzeeva, Dziyana Khaletskaya, and Artur Trifonov 👀 Stay tuned for new connectors to appear in one of the next releases. #DBeaverTeam #WorkAtDBeaver

🚀 NEW on We ❤️ Open Source 🚀 AI-assisted database tools can make working with data more accessible without making SQL expertise obsolete. Dave Stokes looks at how DBeaver Community Edition lets users ask database questions in plain language, translate those requests into SQL, augment existing queries, and explain complex SQL. For experienced developers, that can mean faster iteration and less friction. For newer users, it offers another way to explore databases while building their skills. The article also examines privacy controls that let users manage what information AI can access. https://lnkd.in/e5pRbntq #WeLoveOpenSource #OpenSource #DBeaver #Databases #AI

  • You can now build horizontal bar charts in the Data Editor. This makes data easier to read with long column names like product titles, email addresses, or department names. It’s available in CloudBeaver Enterprise and DBeaver Team Edition Web.

  • ⌨️ Shortcut of the week: hide a result set. Press CTRL+T to collapse it, then press it again to bring it back. It's a quick way to review a long query without scrolling. This shortcut works across all DBeaver desktop editions on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Database tooling often forces a choice: pick a GUI built for your primary engine, then juggle separate tools the moment a project needs something else. DBeaver removes that constraint. It's a free, cross-platform database manager that works across SQL databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, MariaDB, and more, all through one consistent interface for exploring schemas, editing data, and running queries. For teams supporting multiple database engines, or developers who just don't want to relearn a new tool every time the stack changes, it's a practical way to standardize on one workflow. https://lnkd.in/gZ5nm4J7 #DatabaseTools #DeveloperTools #OpenSource
