Most conversations about data sovereignty get stuck on one question: where is our data stored? Our CEO Onur Alp Soner argues in EuropeanBusinessMagazine that it's the wrong question to lead with. The one that actually matters: who controls what happens to that data next? Regulations shift. Providers change their pricing and policies. AI is unlocking new uses for information companies collected years ago. In every case, the real test is the same: can your business change its mind and change course without waiting for an external platform to allow it? That reframes sovereignty from a compliance checkbox into a strategic advantage: → Treating data as an asset you deliberately own, not an operational by-product → Knowing exactly where your decision-making power ends and a provider's begins → Keeping the freedom to explore new AI applications without handing your most valuable data to someone else's architecture As Onur puts it, sovereignty at its most useful isn't about restriction, but about freedom of choice. Not simply controlling where your data goes, but keeping the freedom to decide where it goes next. Worth a read for anyone navigating EU regulation and AI at the same time. https://lnkd.in/dG2fHAaW

For 15+ years, Eventpedia has built the mobile apps that conferences and associations run on. But a working app wasn't enough anymore. Organizers wanted to know what attendees actually did inside it, and sponsors wanted proof their placements were seen. Instead of building and maintaining their own analytics backend, Eventpedia integrated Countly's API directly into their product. The result: → Sponsor ROI made provable: every banner view and click, tracked and reported → A roadmap built on real usage, not assumptions: "must-have" features that nobody used got deprioritized → A lean team spending time on the event platform, not on infrastructure "Countly is an integral part of our operation that helps us grow." — TIEHJEN (TJ) Sun, CEO at Eventpedia Read the full story 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehqW5A9r #ProductAnalytics #EventTech #CustomerStory #Countly

Recent analytics breaches are a reminder that analytics isn't just a measurement tool. It's part of your security perimeter. The more customer data your analytics stack can access — and the more places that data travels — the larger the potential blast radius. With Countly, you decide what behavioral data you collect and where it lives. Deploy on your own infrastructure or private cloud, keep first-party analytics under your control, and minimize unnecessary exposure. Read more in our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/d4bmusZb

The engineering story behind Countly 26.01's new architecture is now on our blog. When customers started running billions of events, our single MongoDB path hit its limit: ingestion, aggregation and dashboard queries were all competing for the same resources. So we rebuilt how an event moves through Countly. Every event now enters once, flows through Kafka, and is served by ClickHouse for detailed analysis and MongoDB for precomputed metrics, with each service scaling independently. The result: built for 100B+ data points, queries up to 100× faster, and everything still running inside infrastructure you control. Kanwar Ujjaval S., our Lead Engineer, walks through the decisions and trade-offs -> https://lnkd.in/dSadkmY5 #ProductAnalytics #DataEngineering #Kafka #ClickHouse #SelfHosted

Privacy failures are often designed in, not broken into. In Intelligent CISO, our CEO Onur Alp Soner makes the case that most long-term privacy risk comes from architecture: extra telemetry, “just in case” data lakes, secondary use, and systems that can reconstruct behavior even when each individual decision looks lawful. The question is not only “Can this data be protected?” - it is “Should this architecture exist in this form at all?” Full article: https://lnkd.in/dBrYvz9S #Privacy #DataGovernance #ProductAnalytics #Countly

Is telemetry in AI becoming a hidden liability for CTOs and CFOs? As AI systems both generate and consume telemetry at scale, data volumes are exploding — and with them, costs, risk, and governance complexity. What starts as useful observability can quickly turn into organizational knowledge that no one fully understands or controls. In this TechRadar Pro Perspectives piece, our co-founder & CEO Onur Alp Soner unpacks why treating telemetry as pure “infrastructure” is a blind spot, and what a more deliberate, bounded approach looks like in an AI-driven world. The speed of cloud analytics. The control of self-hosting. For years, enterprises have been forced to choose: the performance of cloud analytics, or keeping customer data inside their own environment. Countly 26.01 is our answer to that false tradeoff. A new analytics engine built to analyze millions of users, power real-time personalization, and run AI-driven experiences — while behavioral data stays in your infrastructure. → Up to 100M monthly active users → Self-hosted or private cloud → GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, CCPA-ready by design Learn more about the new architecture here: https://lnkd.in/d-HM9K4W #analytics #dataprivacy #enterprise #selfhosted

Owning your data was treated as a compliance burden for a decade. AI turned it into a competitive advantage almost overnight. Our co-founder and CEO Onur Alp Soner has been making the first half of that argument since 2012. In a new interview with Pulse 2.0, he explains why the second half was always coming. He gets into why ownership is foundational rather than restrictive. Why the hard problem in analytics was never the insight, but the quality and structure of the data underneath it. And why large organizations are increasingly unwilling to expose their product intelligence to generic SaaS tools — which is exactly what the 26.01 architecture is built for. 14 years, bootstrapped, from the first open-source mobile analytics platform to teams at BMW and Coca-Cola. How do you understand a product that's been evolving for 35 years and is used differently by every customer? NedGraphics Software CAD/CAM design platform serves designers across fashion, home textiles, flooring, and automotive. Decades of customer insight shaped the roadmap, but conversation alone couldn't show how thousands of users actually worked day to day. With Countly, they added a shared analytics layer that pairs what customers say with what the data shows — validating priorities, spotting friction, and making roadmap decisions with far more confidence. The biggest insight? There's no single "correct" workflow. Success meant supporting many valid paths to the same outcome. "Collecting vast amounts of data is not the same as being able to use it." Our co-founder and CEO Onur Alp Soner sat down with TechNews180 for their Founder Series to talk about why the future of AI may depend less on models — and more on who owns the data. As AI models become increasingly accessible and commoditized, competitive advantage shifts to the behavioral data that reflects how your own customers use your products. That's something no competitor can replicate — provided you actually own it. But here's the catch: in most organizations, that data is fragmented across systems, collected inconsistently over years, or locked inside third-party platforms. Before AI can deliver value, companies have to fix the data layer first. It's the same conviction Countly was bootstrapped on more than a decade ago: organizations should be able to understand their users without trading away control of their data. What's changed is how relevant that idea has become. Full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/daaC4uiC #AI #DataStrategy #FirstPartyData #Analytics #DataPrivacy
