My SF Tech Week calendar got a little out of hand... 😁 I’m co-hosting and speaking at six events across SF and Mountain View next week. Here’s where you’ll find me: 🏃 Monday, Oct 5 · 8 AM - Rabbits on the Run An all-paces run, then breakfast and a rave at CodeRabbit HQ. Warm-up at 8, run at 8:15, breakfast beats at 9 on our rooftop. 🏭 Wednesday, Oct 7 · 5 PM - Factory Reset w/ Mastra Short, opinionated talks about the agentic software development lifecycle: AI code review, open source, autonomous engineering, SW Factories, and what’s actually working w/ Abhi Aiyer ⚙️ Thursday, Oct 8 · 4:30–8 PM - AI & Platform Engineering Developer Meetup w/ Intuit and Christy Bergman I’m in Mountain View talking about scaling engineering judgment when code is basically free, alongside Intuit engineers and Arize AI’s Aparna Dhinakaran exploring agents that improve through feedback and evals. 🌊 Friday, Oct 9 · 8 AM - Waves & Breakfast with CodeRabbit Surf, a cold plunge, coffee, and breakfast at Ocean Beach. Beach people welcome, even if you’re skipping the surf. 🌇 Friday, Oct 9 · 6–9 PM - October Tech Rooftop Mixer Closing out my week with Founders & Friends and Founder Social Club: founders, builders, investors, and sunset conversations in SF. Join us 🔥 Saturday, Oct 10 · 4 PM · Menlo Park - Nar Nights A fireside chat with an actual fire, under the redwoods. A small circle of founders, investors, and researchers sharing stories, with pillows and carpets on the ground. If you're in the city and any of that sounds interesting to you, I'd love to meet you! See ya there! 👋 P.S. Partiful links below

  • CodeRabbit went live yesterday as a featured launch partner on the new OpenAI Marketplace. Coding agents are writing more of the code that ships, and someone still has to know what changed and whether it's safe to merge. That's the job of our Agentic Change Management platform. It catches bugs and digs into security issues in code from developers and agents alike. And it maps everything a change touches. It flags which changes actually need a human look, so reviewers spend their time there. People still decide what gets approved and shipped. For enterprise teams there's a procurement upside too. Existing OpenAI spend commitments can now go toward CodeRabbit through the Marketplace.

  • CodeRabbit is joining the OpenAI Marketplace. Your existing OpenAI spend commitment can now go toward CodeRabbit, too. As coding agents produce more changes, teams have more code to review, more dependencies to understand, and more decisions to make before merging. CodeRabbit helps with that work. Our Agentic Change Management platform reviews code, prioritizes changes that need human attention, explains their effects across the codebase, and investigates security vulnerabilities. It works with code written by developers and different coding agents, with people deciding what ships. Already have an OpenAI spend commitment? Talk to CodeRabbit or your OpenAI account team about getting started. https://lnkd.in/gsjgfTU4

We won 1st place at TypeSafe AI's first ever Jev hackathon! 🏆 🤖 Introducing Jevolution, a multi-agent ecosystem where researchers can study endangered species without touching a single animal by gathering synthetic data and running simulations. link: http://jevolution.world repo: https://lnkd.in/g6yyyGKb built with: Nikhil Hooda & Utkarsh Gupta special thanks to CodeRabbit for hosting :)

  • Sonnet 5 overthought its code reviews. Sonnet 5.5 doesn't. Same 44 open-source PRs: > ~4× fewer output tokens per call > under half the input tokens > 6:33 per review, down from 13:31 > ~60% cheaper Precision held on the hardest subset. https://lnkd.in/gVRA-5ik

Introducing Claude Sonnet 5.5, the second model in the Claude 5.5 family. It's a faster, lower-cost complement to Claude Opus 5.5, strongest at well-scoped everyday tasks, fixing bugs, and creating polished documents, slides, and spreadsheets. It also has a strong eye for design. Sonnet 5.5 is a clear upgrade over Sonnet 5. It runs more than 30% faster and costs up to 30% less for most work. It's priced the same per token, but it typically needs far fewer tokens to do the same work. Like Opus 5.5, it writes more clearly than our previous generation of models, and its speed makes it well suited to fast iteration. On our automated behavioral audit, Sonnet 5.5 improves on or matches Sonnet 5 on most measures of alignment and honesty. It's also the first Sonnet model with cybersecurity safeguards similar to those on our most capable models. Routine software development is unaffected. Sonnet 5.5 is available everywhere today. Claude Haiku 5.5 will join the family in the coming weeks. 𝗔 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗻𝘆 Saturday was Jevathon, TypeSafe AI’s first community hackathon, just 11 days after coming out of stealth. Three hours. One synthetically generated model that writes no prose. A room full of builders figuring out what software looks like when probabilistic judgment becomes another primitive in code. Winning team built a wildlife simulator where Jev made ~4,000 decisions for about $1.30. Claude handled ~500 for roughly $12. Another hacker built an interdimensional shopping network that judged products for tackiness. Another turned recorded browser workflows into APIs by finding where judgment actually belongs. Most consequential demo used Jev inside a clinical decision tree for stroke routing, raising a harder question: typed output can prevent a model from inventing an answer, but it cannot guarantee answer is right. CodeRabbit offered perhaps best production-scale clue. Background agents generated 1,500 PRs overnight. Suddenly scarce resource wasn't code generation. It was deciding which code deserved human attention. That inversion may matter more than another model benchmark. Jev is named for "Jevons paradox" make something more efficient and consumption can rise rather than fall. Cheap coal fed more furnaces. Cheap judgment might feed more decisions. At Jevathon, it already fed wolves, dog sculptures, API endpoints & ambulance routes. If judgment becomes nearly free, which questions still deserve someone who hesitates?

1/ Yesterday we hosted TypeSafe AI at our CodeRabbit HQ for Jev's first ever hackathon! 160+ builders. ~4hrs of hacking. Expert judges, Incredible energy. Amidst all the chaos, I got to sit down with Allie Laabs and talk about what Jev means for Coding, Software Development and the new paradigm shift you have to adapt when working with this new class of AI models. She also shared some really helpful tips and examples of how to best work with Jev - I'll try my best to summarize some of them in the comments ⬇️

  • Coding agents are writing more of the code. Someone still has to know what changed and what it breaks. Google Cloud just wrote about how CodeRabbit is growing from AI code review into Agentic Change Management, a control plane for teams where agents do a lot of the shipping. The post covers what we run on (Cloud Run and Cloud Storage) and where we've started using Gemini: working out the impact of a change, explaining logic bugs, and generating one-click fixes. Thanks to the Google Cloud team for including us. https://lnkd.in/gic5wfgP
