A public enterprise-architecture & data-systems laboratory. Make enterprise architecture concrete.

About us

Archipel Labs is a public enterprise-architecture and data-systems laboratory. Instead of describing architecture from above, the lab builds it: a fictional company, TimberWorks, operating 24/7 on real enterprise software, with simulated customers, teams and network activity. A company that actually runs opens the door to experiments that are usually impossible outside production: feeding a lakehouse with live data, wiring integrations into a moving environment, watching an event-driven design behave under real traffic, stress-testing SSO and authorizations across many systems, or simply breaking things to see what happens next. Everything runs in public, is open source, and is documented on the blog. Services and consulting: The lab is also the foundation of a consulting practice. No slide-only architecture: recommendations come from an architect who builds, operates and debugs these systems hands-on, covering architecture, integration, automation, data platforms, DevOps and development platforms. 🌐 https://archipellabs.com ⭐ https://github.com/archipellabs 📩 https://archipellabs.com/contact

  • Why Archipel Labs exists and the conviction behind it ⤵️

I'm a hands-on architect: give me a problem and my instinct is to test what I think is right against reality. Across a lot of systems, that habit taught me far more than any grand principle, and it shaped every recommendation I later made to clients.   But testing ideas properly needs a living system, with real complexity, real data and real constraints. So I'm generalizing the approach: Archipel Labs is a simulated company I grow, break and study for real, so the thinking always goes past the naive and the overview.   I've just published its manifesto 👇 https://lnkd.in/gFv8R24S   🌐 I'll keep sharing experiments and practical thoughts on enterprise architecture. Feel free to follow or connect.
