Over the past few months, Anthropic scientists have engaged in deep research partnerships with six organizations developing new medicines. We've also begun drug discovery efforts of our own. In doing so, we’ve learned much more about how Claude can support the many stages of drug development. In this blog post, we share some early results from these efforts, and describe how this work fits in with our wider ambitions in the life sciences. https://lnkd.in/ga7fFn2g

As a Public Benefit Corporation, we’re working toward a world where: -The technical problems of AI safety are solved; -AI safety is a universal practice backstopped by law; -AI strengthens democracy and global stability; -AI expands prosperity and human flourishing; and -AI’s benefits are shared by everyone. Today we’re publishing our first Public Benefit Report, which measures our progress toward each of these five pillars. We’ll publish a further review every year from now on. As part of the United Nations General Assembly week, we held "The Briefing: AI for Global Benefit". We brought together leaders from CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations), World Food Programme, International Rescue Committee, OpenEvidence, Pratham Education Foundation and other organizations to discuss what it'll take to ensure the benefits of AI are fully realized and broadly shared. We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit. It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion. In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding. In the post below, we share more details about our new fund. https://lnkd.in/erhUstfW

We’ve opened an office in Singapore—our fifth in the Asia-Pacific region. We’ve also signed an MOU with the Government of Singapore on AI safety and responsible adoption. Co-founder Benjamin Mann signed the MOU with with Kai Fong Chng, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Development and Information. Under the MOU, we plan to exchange expertise with Singapore’s AI safety institutions on testing standards and incident response, and share insights from our Economic Index data on AI adoption. Today we’re launching the Anthropic Cyber Mission, a long-term commitment to securing the systems everyone depends on. Frontier AI models can be misused to exploit vulnerabilities, and many of the systems we all rely on remain dangerously exposed. The people who defend critical infrastructure and open-source software have decades of security experience, but have long been short on resources. The Cyber Mission is our new effort to support defenders with tools, resources, and research. For critical infrastructure, we’re starting with the Critical Infrastructure Defense Program, which brings frontier Claude models, on-site engineers, and our threat research to the companies that these operators rely on to keep their systems secure. For open-source, we’re launching OSS Scanner, a free, opt-in service that gives projects regular security scans from our most capable models. Each report includes a proof of concept, explanation, and suggested fix where available. These are part of our broader efforts to accelerate vulnerability discovery through to patching, to harden the underlying code, and make the systems we all rely upon more secure and resilient. This work will take time, and we expect the Cyber Mission to change as we, together with the public and private sector, learn what works. Introducing Claude Sonnet 5.5, the second model in the Claude 5.5 family. It's a faster, lower-cost complement to Claude Opus 5.5, strongest at well-scoped everyday tasks, fixing bugs, and creating polished documents, slides, and spreadsheets. It also has a strong eye for design. Sonnet 5.5 is a clear upgrade over Sonnet 5. It runs more than 30% faster and costs up to 30% less for most work. It's priced the same per token, but it typically needs far fewer tokens to do the same work. Like Opus 5.5, it writes more clearly than our previous generation of models, and its speed makes it well suited to fast iteration. On our automated behavioral audit, Sonnet 5.5 improves on or matches Sonnet 5 on most measures of alignment and honesty. It's also the first Sonnet model with cybersecurity safeguards similar to those on our most capable models. Routine software development is unaffected. Sonnet 5.5 is available everywhere today. Claude Haiku 5.5 will join the family in the coming weeks.
