LOUISVILLE — Yum! Brands has signed a 10-year lease to move its headquarters into the landmark PNC Building in downtown Louisville, according to news reports.
The company has not issued an announcement, but the Business First publication reported the move Thursday and Mayor Craig Greenberg has posted celebratory social media reaction.
The PNC tower and 5th and Main is the second tallest building in Louisville. The Class A office space it provides has not been in high demand in recent years, so the Yum! step will create major positive energy for the central business district.
Business First attributes its report to a news release by Yum! CEO Chris Turner, who just took over Oct. 1. There is no release on the Yum! website yet, but Greenberg’s multiple posts offer strong confirmation.
Yum! Brands was headquartered for many years on an 28-acre property off Gardiner Lane in Louisville, but earlier this yea donated its building there to Jefferson County Public Schools. The company in February said plans to relocate 100 corporate jobs from Louisville to the company’s Plano, Texas offices, moving the KFC Louisville headquarters into the same address as Pizza Hut. Yuym! in June gave KFC employees in Louisville a September deadline to decide if they will relocate to Plano.
After renovations are done to its new space in the PNC Tower, Yum! Brands employees are expected to move in late-2026.
“We’re thrilled to have worked with Yum! Brands to secure its future in Louisville for years to come by locating its corporate office and employees in the heart of our city,” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said in a news release. “I appreciate Yum!’s commitment to Louisville and look forward to welcoming these employees downtown to enjoy the fantastic amenities, restaurants, parks, entertainment venues, museums and so much more – it’s great to see downtown bustling again with businesses, employees and visitors.”
