‘기역, 디귿, 시옷’, names of the current Korean consonants ‘ㄱ, ㄷ, ㅅ’, are unsystematic, which must be changed to ‘기윽, 디읃, 시읏’. Names of other consonants, ‘니은, 리을, 미음, 비읍, 이응’ are all based on ‘ㅣ’ and ‘ㅡ’, which are systemic. This is based on the need to properly understand the consonant onomatology of Hunmongjahoe. There are many claims that it can be done with one syllable rather than two syllable names. There are also claims that attach 'l' like '기, 니, 디', 'ㅡ' like '그, 느, 드', and 'ㅏ' like '가, 나, 다'. The '기니디' type is based on an example that appeared in Hunminjeongeum(1443), and the 'ㅡ' type is based on the fact that 'ㅡ' has the smallest aperture.. Meanwhile, the ‘가나다' type is based on the fact that the aperture is the largest, that is, the aperture are widened the most so that the consonants can be clearly exposed. When considering names of consonants, there is also a discussion of whether it is one or two by name, which is a question of whether the initial and final names should be the same or different. One is sufficient in the current spelling that follows formalism.
