Sprint's Hesse Takes Care Of Hesse, Remains CEO After Change of Control

As Softbank buys Sprint, Dan Hesse gets to keep his job in the deal announced today. Softbank's billionaire founder and chief Masayoshi Son has been working with Clearwire, the affiliate of which Sprint owns 48% ,in the Consortium founded by CLWR to advance global standards for the 2.5 Ghz spectrum that Son is using to great effect in Korea. Son has an eye for value. It's highly likely that Dan Hesse owes a lot to John Stanton, Clearwire's Chairman, in today's deal.

Interim CEO John Stanton is cleaning things up for a sale this year. Sprint will reveal its new 4G build plan by "mid-year" which is rapidly looming up. It is hard to believe Sprint would want to see the valuable spectrum int contributed to Clearwire fall to spectrum challenged Verizon or ATT.
