Fox News Channel’s coverage of the bombing at the Boston Marathon last week propelled the network to the top of the cable rankings for the first time in nearly a decade. In both total day and primetime for the week of April 15-April 21, the News Corp-owned news network pulled ahead of usually top-ranked USA Network. Excluding election coverage last year, the last time Fox News was in the top position was August 2005, when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. In primetime, FNC garnered 2.874 million viewers on average for the week compared with No. 2 USA’s 2.621 million. CNN also climbed the cable ladder to finish No. 3 with 1.985 million viewers overall on average. History Channel was in fourth with 1.937 million viewers and A&E was fifth with 1.928 million.

With heavy use of its Boston affilate as well as a strong network presence on the ground with anchor Shep Smith, Bill Hemmer and others, Fox News brought in 1.772 million on average in total day with its wall-to-wall reporting from and about bombings and subsequent manhunt. That was ahead of second place Nickelodeon’s 1.644 million and CNN‘s 1.329 million viewers over the frame. Adult Swim was fourth for total day with 1.248 million, and USA was fifth with 1.232 million. Rival cable news network MSNBC was 19th in the cable primetime rankings with 923,000 viewers on average for the week and 16th in the total-day ranking with 578,000.
I have a solution for you all, it was a hard solution, took a heck of a lot of brain power;
Here it is.
Watch moderate news stations instead of bashing left and right parties
Problem solved. All right winged/ left winged news stations are going to have bias. Instead of complaining and constantly running your mouths, watch something your happy with or keep your opinions to yourself.
Have a good day.
Oh my god. Do any of you parrots actually live in the USA? If so how can you be so clueless as to what is happening? Oh I forgot. Fox news viewers. That explains it. Be sure to repeat every lie you here from your heroes like hannity or oreilly. You brain dead morons. Unbelievable.
Spoken like a true uneducated bigot. Things like you is what needs to leave this country.
I think you’re crazy to attack O’Reilly if you’re conservative. Sure he tries to play it safe with his assessment of Obama and give the president the benefit of the doubt. That makes him more credible when he drops the hammer on him. It’s smarter to be fair and not just go Hannity on the president all the time. People see the difference and that’s how O’Reilly tries to play it. Smart. His guests are what give him away as conservative at heart. Miller, Goldberg, Guttfeld, McGurk…most of his regulars are clearly conservative and he gives them that forum. O’Reilly is HUGE in cable news. He’s like the Babe Ruth or the John Elway or the Karch Kirally or the Michael Jordan or the Rush Limbaugh (well almost) or the Dale Earnhardt of cable news. Give the man his credit. He’s a giant and he’s done it for a long, long, long time. He should have Guttfeld sub-host for him more instead of Laura Ingraham though. Guttfeld is HY-larious. Watch The Five.
Don’t forget people, this article has nothing to do with head to head comparison on news ratings. This is overall cable ratings. Fox was #1 among ALL stations. That’s impressive, really impressive. The fact that they’re the number one news station is just something you take for granted. It’s never a question of if they’re number one in news, it’s a question of what multiple larger than the other networks they are…3x, 4x, 5x, 6x. OReilly has 6xs the viewership of Chris Matthews for example. Nobody watches MSNBC unless they have a pet issue that compells them to support Democrats no matter what the suffering they condemn the rest of us to. If you’re gay, watch MSNBC. If you believe in man-made climate change, watch MSNBC. If you’re black or hispanic watch MSNBC (because they protect Obama). If you believe in abortion for everyone anytime, watch MSNBC. Otherwise nobody would watch the network that gave us Chris Matthews and his comment that Bill Clinton is such a great politician that if he landed on Mars he would know how to have sex with martians. Look it up.
