You’ve heard of Victoria’s Secret Angels, but have you heard of R&M Leathers’ baddies? If VS is for good girls, R&M is for their alluring, dark-minded counterparts – the Eve to their Mary, the black swan to their white swan. For the best part of a decade, R&M Leathers has been building its reputation as London’s go-to fetishwear brand. Founded in 2018 by designer Ruby Mariani, this year alone, it’s been worn by Charli xcx, Addison Rae, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo, to name just a few.

Whether you’re a pop star or a fetishwear enthusiast, R&M has you covered, and yesterday evening (September 16), it delivered its debut catwalk show. It comes as no surprise that a brand whose foundations are rooted in sex takes no issue with sin. In an attempt to really piss off the powers above, the show was held inside Clapton’s Round Chapel and funded by Pornhub. The name of the collection, Miss Leathers, took its name from Versace’s AW92 collection, Miss S&M, and was a perfect summary of the clothes, merging the worlds of kink and pageantry.

Naturally, the pageant queen was dressed entirely in leather, including a leather sash, leather tiara and leather riding crop, shaped like a winning sceptre. Elsewhere, Tudor necklines, peplum silhouettes and chokers put a kinky spin on Anne Boleyn, while other characters included a Barb Wire-style runaway bride, showgirls and waitresses. There were bondage harnesses, tasseled two-pieces, baby-doll dresses and Pornhub-logoed t-shirts. In short, it was sexy. Only made sexier (and more sinful) when two models kissed mid-runway in true Britney-and-Madonna-at-the-VMAs fashion. London Fashion Week is known for its punk attitude, but R&M Leather’s brought sex to the city.
