London artist Nia Archives makes a bold return with new single ‘Danger’.
A gauzy guitar-laced, turbo-charged breakbeat anthem, Nia Archives lays forth her daring manifesto on ‘Danger’. The release charts her transition from girlhood to womanhood. Emboldened, Nia trades subtlety for sensory pleasure.
Speaking on the single, she shares:
“It’s definitely an X-rated tune, I really pushed that side – I’ve never even sworn in my music. But it’s a part of love… or of lust… that people get a bit scared to talk about. Being in your mid-20s, you’re figuring out who you are, exploring your sexuality… I think people kind of get stuck in girlhood, but really and truly, I’m 26 and I feel like I’m entering womanhood.”
Nia Archives has released a slew of acclaimed EPs – ‘Headz Gone West’, ‘Forbidden Feelingz’ and ‘Sunrise Bang Ur Head Against Tha Wall’ – and most recently her debut album ‘Silence Is Loud’.
With the new release comes an accompanying video directed by Claryn Chong, that sees Nia centre the female gaze; dancing for herself in the bedroom mirror, oozing with confidence and energised by the butterflies of being in love.
Tune in now.
