On September 21, 1952, Art Houtteman lost his twentieth game of the season, the fifth Detroit Tiger twirler to lose twenty-or more games in a season, joining Ed Killian (20 losses in 1904), George Mullin (23 losses in 1904, 21 losses in 1905, 20 losses in 1907), Hooks Dauss (21 losses in 1920), and Bobo Newsom (20 losses in 1941).
