On May 7, 2008, Go-Go hit for the cycle against the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago — the fifth player in baseball history to hit for the cycle in reverse order (a home run first, a triple second, a double third, a single fourth), the third-youngest player in baseball history to hit for the cycle, and the first Minnesota Twin to hit for the cycle since Kirby Puckett.

On April 29, 2017, Go-Go hit for the cycle against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Globe Life Park in Arlington — the second cycle in his career, entering him into the Cycle Record Books (two cycles with two different American League teams). Gomez did not break the record for furthest time between two cycles, set by George Brett (11 years / 57 days apart), but he did pass three others who were "only" eight years apart; Joe Cronin, Joe DiMaggio, and Chris Speier.
