What is Alexa+ Update 12?
Alexa+ Update 12 is a major upgrade to how Alexa thinks, adapts, and gets things done. Alexa can now handle multi-step actions in a single request—like turning down the lights and playing music, all at once. It figures it out in the background, so you don’t have to break things down step by step. Beyond that, it collaborates with you—pulling in what it knows about you and your family, asking the right follow-up questions, and adapting its plan as the conversation evolves. Think of Alexa as more of a thinking partner that stays with your most complex requests. How do I get Alexa+ Update 12?
Alexa+ Update 12 will first be available on our new 2026 devices including Echo Dot, Echo Time, Echo Show 16, Echo Studio with Home Camera, Alexa Photo Frame, and soon on Alexa Tablets, Alexa.com and in the Alexa app. Customers who purchase any of these devices will get Alexa+ Update 12 on their new device, then on their existing Alexa+ devices soon. We will roll out to more households and devices early next year. What devices will work with Alexa+ Update 12?
Alexa+ Update 12 will soon work on all Echo and Alexa devices compatible with Alexa+. The latest Alexa+ release will be available first in English for customers with a U.S. account. We will roll out to more countries and languages in the future. What are new things I can try with Alexa+ Update 12?
The biggest upgrade with Alexa+ Update 12 is Alexa’s ability to execute multiple tasks at once. Before, you had to give Alexa one single request at a time, and now you can say things like “change my dinner reservation and message the babysitter,” “stop the music and play my news briefing instead,” or “add milk to my shopping list and remind me to grab it after work,” and Alexa figures out the sequence. Alexa can also go much deeper on research—if you’re curious about a topic, Alexa organizes information, surfaces key facts, and delivers a structured report. Alexa also asks more thoughtful follow-up questions to give you even more personalized answers. And if you have a hard problem, Alexa can solve it and teach you how it got there step-by-step. For example, Alexa can walk you through a difficult math problem, or how to fix a leaky faucet in your kitchen.I am a Prime member but do not have access to Alexa+. Why?
