On 1 September 1982, Todd Rogers (USA) set a time of 5.51 sec on Activision’s Dragster (1980), as verified by Twin Galaxies. That early GWR gaming record remained unbeaten for 34 years 215 days, as of 4 April 2017.

Although other videogame high-score records had been recorded months earlier by official gaming score-keepers Twin Galaxies, these scores were only recognized retrospectively by Guinness World Records.

Todd has also held the high-score record on Dragster since 1 December 1980. This first record even pre-dates Twin Galaxies by a year and was first officially recognized by Activision. Although Todd beat his own record on 1 September 1982, he has been the top scorer on Dragster for a total of 34 years 328 days, as of 27 October 2015.
