research in motion (rim) suffered an outage on friday that, according to a rim spokesperson, lasted “two minutes to two hours” for some customers. however, cingular wireless stated that the outage lasted for three hours and 45 minutes, while t-mobile usa stated that it noticed problems from about 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. edt. the outage seemed to affect only certain types of wireless networks, since verizon and sprint reported no problems at all. nextel had some reported problems, but those were limited to delays in the receipt of e-mails rather than a full service interruption. read more from the reuters and associated press articles.
