Nicolas Sarkozy (L) welcomes Donald Tusk in Paris
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced at an emergency EU-African Union-Arab League summit in Paris, March 19, that Polish soldiers would not take part in any military action in Libya.
PM Tusk had been invited by the French president Nicolas Sarkozy to Paris, where leaders from 22 countries gathered to discuss the course of action regarding Libyan situation.
They "agreed to put in place all the means necessary, in particular military" to make Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi respect a U.N. Security Council Resolution (UNSCR 1973) demanding a cease-fire and a complete end to violence and all attacks against civilians.
The communique was issued as reports of the French air force taking action in Libya came from the eastern parts of the country.
The Polish PM voiced Poland’s support for the UN resolution and offered all possible humanitarian aid.
