As formally teased and expected, Huawei has announced its latest high-end device for the Chinese market, the Mate 8. The 6-inch (and just 1080p) device is made entirely out of aluminum in four color choices, rocks a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and is powered by Huawei's brand new Kirin 950 processor.
On the software side, the Mate 8 will launch with a freshly redesigned EMUI 4.0 interface from Huawei, and that bump in versions coordinates with the move to Android 6.0 Marshmallow as well.
The announcement comes just a handful of weeks after Huawei detailed the new 950 chipset, which is an octa-core unit — four A72 2.3GHz cores and four A53 1.8GHz cores — that offers enhanced power saving, as well as a so-called "i5" coprocessor to handle various low-power processes such as always-on sensors.
If details seem a bit light right now, that's because Huawei is saving them for when the Mate 8 is officially unveiled and detailed to the press at CES 2016, where we'll learn all of the specifics. It'll be available to the public thereafter in China starting in Q1 2016 — there aren't yet any details on a potential release outside of China.

Huawei announces Mate 8 in China, sporting Marshmallow and Kirin 950 processor
Interesting

Now if Huawei would follow OPPO and offer an optional installation of all but stock Android and simultaneously launch it in the US, I'd consider it. It looks great and I'm expecting good things from the Kirin 950 chipset used.
That top bezel is delicious.

That is a gorgeous phone!

That is the sexiest dang phone I ever done see! 1080 screen is the perfect resolution and 6 inch screen is enough to watch movies.
Now if only the battery is 4000 mAh it will be perfect. Bravo Huawei. All hail the rise of the Chinese super phone! RIP HTC your weak sauce ain't gonna cut it anymore.
The Mate 7 was a beast for battery life, I expect this will too. 1080p on a screen 7 inches or less is fine in my opinion, and it will certainly help the battery.

1080p is fine, but why does it need to be blown up to 6 inches. Maybe the (very nice) slim bezels makes this thing less unwieldy, but as it is, it's almost the perfect configuration. At 5.5 inches, it'd be even better. Nice if it doesn't bend and break too. But we're getting there.
Mate 8 seems redundant.. Couldn't or just be spelled M8? Like using 8 was part of the spelling, like teenagers do? Lol
All jokes aside, that gold model looks pretty dope.

Sorry, didn't mean to hit the "report" button on your comment. I guess there's no confirmation before it sends

Lol well I haven't heard anything yet, but thanks for the heads up!

Also it was a lame joke, so hitting the report button was probably a good course of action

Ha! oops! Oh wait, I did it too. Just kidding. You are so out of control, we needed to reel you back in. LOL
I must say that phone looks stunning
dreaming of electric sheep
Mocha Brown please

WoW nice phones!
But at this time the LG Flex 3 is announced with the Snapdragon 820
The foldable 6inch POLED Display will blow everyone away
LG Flex 2 (5.1.1)
Foldable displays are still years away, mate.
It's not years away, it's already there.
LG Flex 2 (5.1.1)
I meant in a consumer device.
The G Flex doesn't count, because it doesn't fold. It bends.
Soft and sweet Marshmallow
I was reading that the upcoming LG Flex 3 has a 6inch foldable POLED display and rumored specs are Snapdragon 820 with 4GB Ram and 20.3mp back and 8 MP Frontshooter.
Running Android 6.0 Marshmellow.
LG Flex 2 (5.1.1)
Pretty unlikely.
Take rumors with a grain of salt
Soft and sweet Marshmallow
March 2016 . And fingerprint scanner implemented in the homebutton.
Even when it's only bendable and not foldable, no big deal but please keep the Curve. It's the best ergonomically.
LG Flex 2 (5.1.1)
You sir are ludicrous. I'll give you my house if the flex 3 is foldable.

But it must be true, they said so on the Internet. You can't just LIE on the internet.

Folding displays don't matter, as rumor has it that Apple is coming out with a stick to touch and write on the screen that was called a stylus. Mark my words, it is going to revolutionize human interaction with touch screens.
Oh that would be a great idea. Maybe they could make a hole in the phone for it to slot into?
Hopefully they make it so it can only go in one way round, I foresee problems if not.

DEM BEZELS!
I mean, seriously people. Why can't we have phones like this, where the screen is big but the bezels are small???
I agree. This is easily the highest screen to body ratio, probably in the high 80%
That camera module is gaudy. Like the old Nexus 5 or the current Lumia. Not a fan.
But the rest of the phone looks pretty nice.

That's how you do bezels... Huawei have some lovey design work going on at the moment. If this comes to the UK... I'd be tempted.
The bezels are nice and thin, but the top and bottom aren't symmetrical.
That's a bit nit-picky I know, but it would bug me.

That is a bit nit-picky... at least the smaller one is at the top - that's the right decision. I have the LG G3 and it's the same - I like it.
What jerks, they just had to release it on Thanksgiving and make you guys cover it.
This phone is beautiful!
So the phone turns out to have a 4000 mAh battery and the top version comes with 4 GB ram and 128 GB storage and Micro SD card.
$690 USD
Sounds fantastic if it runs band 2,4,12 so usable on t-mobile.
