IT APPEARED to be a mismatch from the start and now the society heiress Jemima Khan and the high-octane comedian Russell Brand are said to have called it a day.

First pictured together in New York’s East Village last September, Khan, 40, and Brand, 39, went public with their romance in November when they attended a screening in London of a documentary on the US drone wars.

Brought together by their shared loved of left-wing politics, the pair became acquainted when Khan, an associate editor of the New Statesman, commissioned the comedian to write an article for the publication in 2011.
