Supported by the Department of Education and HERE, a Nokia business subsidiary, DPSA encourages primary and secondary students nationwide to discover unique stories about their hometowns, present these stories using digital and online tools, and pin them on an online map. Launched in 2008, it is the longest running school based crowd-sourced content generation and learning program in the country.

"Through DPSA, we are able to make learning more fun and meaningful to the students. The lessons they learn as they complete their entries stay with them, which is the beauty of the learning-by-doing attitude that we want to promote among the youth," said Smart Public Affairs Group Head Ramon Isberto.

Other schools in the primary level division that rounded up the top 5 are Butuan Central Elementary School-Science and Technology and Education Center in Butuan, Agusan del Norte and Ilaya Elementary School in Tanay, Rizal. In the secondary level division, Barobo National High School in Barobo, Surigao del Sur and Palawan National School in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan also made it to the top 5.

The grand awarding was held recently in Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City.
