New York Rangers forward Pavel Bure could be ready to play by the end of January after surgery Monday showed no damage to the anterior cruciate ligament in either of his knees, a New York newspaper reported.

According to Newsday, Rangers team physician Andrew Feldman repaired a torn meniscus in the player's left knee but found no damage to the ligament.

The 31-year old Bure was injured in a 4-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on December 6. He has 14 goals and seven assists in 27 games for the Rangers this season.
