Opening with “Young Lust,” a song Perry described as “a dinosaur eating cars,” the lean, muscular Pump found Aerosmith drug-free and in bullish form. The singles “Love in an Elevator” and especially “Janie’s Got a Gun” reaffirmed the band’s status as a world-class rock act. Aerosmith were back, but the quality would prove difficult to sustain.
