Thornycroft of
Basingstoke The Thornycroft company was a major employer in Hampshire, and a world leader in the design and construction of ships and commercial vehicles from 1896 to the early 1960s. The firm also built high-quality cars from 1903 to 1912, giving them up to concentrate on its successful commercial vehicles. The Hampshire Museums Service collection was formed in the late 1970s and is now the most comprehensive of its kind in the public domain. |
