U.S. Census Bureau

Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP)

The Census Bureau is preparing for the PSAP for the local review and update of block groups, census tracts, census county divisions, and census designated places, to support the 2010 Census, the American Community Survey, and other Census Bureau data tabulation programs. This program enables local participants to delineate, following Census Bureau guidelines, census block groups, census tracts, census designated places, and census county divisions.

Currently, the proposed criteria for each of the PSAP entities are being developed and reviewed. Once published in the Federal Register, the proposed criteria will be posted to this site for review and comment. We will continue to update this website with additional, more detailed information relating to the 2010 Census PSAP as it becomes available.

For information about the PSAP criteria used for Census 2000, please reference the Census 2000 Statistical Areas Boundary page.

If you have any questions regarding proposed criteria for geographic entities covered under the Participant Statistical Areas Program or the program details, please contact the Geographic Standards and Criteria Branch at 301-763-3056, by e-mail at geo.psap.list@census.gov or by mail to Geography Division, U.S. Census Bureau, Washington, DC, 20233-7400.

When sending comments by e-mail, please include a telephone number, street address, and professional/organizational affiliation.
