Share and access notebooks & Gems

This article is for teachers with a Google Workspace for Education account.

Important updates to Gems in Gemini LTI™

  • Starting June 1, 2027 or later, Gems will no longer be available. Existing Gems in Gemini LTI™ will convert into skills in the Gemini app in a draft state, retaining their name, description, instructions and any uploaded knowledge files. Skills must be manually activated in order to start using them. Until then, you can continue creating and using Gems in Google Gemini LTI™.
  • To prepare for the transition and learn about other teacher-led AI tools that you can use instead of Gems, explore the Gemini Gems and Skills Transition Guide for Education.

Share notebooks in Gemini Notebook and Gemini Gems with students within the Gemini LTI™ tool. This allows easy access to course materials within your learning management system (LMS).

    • Students are granted read access to notebooks and Gems. Other instructors and admins are granted write access.
  • Students can access the notebooks and Gems but cannot share them through Gemini LTI™.
