If there’s one person who can be called a dating expert, it’s Serena Kerrigan.
“I know that there’s a lot of advice on the internet, but you should trust me because I’ve dated throughout my entire 20s,” she told StyleCaster. “I made every mistake: I’ve gotten ghosted, situationshipped out the wazoo, and everything you can possibly imagine. I made all the mistakes so you don’t have to.”
The multi-hyphenate personality first rose to fame with her viral Instagram dating show, where she went on virtual dates during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, Serena has launched the card game, Let’s F—g Date, and created and starred in the Peacock miniseries Older, Hotter, Wiser.
Now, she’s a published author as well! Her book, Let’s F—g Date, hit bookshelves in late September 2026. “The entire premise of the book is to become the prize, enjoy the ride—because we have to make dating fun again—and never settle again.”
To celebrate, Serena visited StyleCaster’s studio to share her dating red and green flags.
One of Serena’s green flags is wanting alone time in a relationship. “I think it’s really important to preserve your independence,” she stated. “You don’t need to be 24/7 with your partner. It’s really important that you have your own identities, your own likes, your own interests, your own friends.”
Serena also shared that men having female friends is a big green flag for her because it means “they respect women as more than just creatures that they want to bang.”
“They actually respect their opinion, their thoughts, their beliefs. They go to them for advice, and they want to hear from them,” she explained. Serena revealed that her boyfriend, Felix Levine, has “tons of female friends, and it’s super healthy.”
“Are they texting him at 2 a.m.? No, that’d be f—g weird,” she continued. “I’m the woman in his life, but I really love his relationship with women because he respects them.”
As for her red flags, Serena noted that a coffee date can feel “a bit business cas.” She claimed these dates often last much longer than anticipated. Drawing from her own experience, Serena recalled going to a coffee shop with a date and ending up “stuck with him for hours.”
“Then I felt like I had to sleep with him—don’t worry, I didn’t—but it was just too much pressure for that first date. So, keep it light, two drinks, and then you say you have Pilates in the morning, OK?”
