"Medicare for All" in New York State
Share
The United States has a dysfunctional health care system. The U.S. spends about 50% more on health care as a share of the economy than other high-income economies, but its population is much less healthy. A primary factor is that roughly half of the population lack adequate health insurance. During the webinar, the panel discusses how a universal coverage, “Medicare for All” system could be implemented in the U.S.. Under this system, all U.S. residents would be guaranteed high-quality health care coverage as a basic right. The system would also deliver large-scale cost savings to both families and businesses. The presenters focus on the current state-level legislative proposal for New York State, the New York Health Act, as an important case study.
This webinar is part of an eight-week series this fall, highlighting policy proposals developed by more than 40 experts on the Game Changers: Economic Policies for a Working America, team. The Game Changers project offers 30 bold, new ideas to build a stronger, fairer, greener, and more inclusive economy for all Americans.
