The ADDICTIONary, created by Facing Addiction and the Recovery Research Institute, is a comprehensive glossary of key terms, some well known and others not, concerning addiction and recovery.
The development of this educational resource was originally funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) Providers Clinical Support System-Medications for Opioid Used Disorder (PCSS-MOUD), cooperative agreement no. 1H79TI086770, with the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP), ending September 29, 2026. AAAP adapted the resource for dissemination in perpetuity. The views expressed do not necessarily reflect the official policies of the Department of Health and Human Services, SAMHSA, nor does mention of trade names, commercial practices, or organizations imply endorsement by the U.S. Government.
