On Wednesday, the City Council will consider a bill that would phase out carriage horses in Central Park.

Romanch’s Law is named after the 18-year-old tourist who was killed in an incident involving a runaway horse last month. The legislation would also create a workforce development program to transition carriage drivers into new positions.

It has the support of more than 20 City Council members, as well as the Central Park Conservancy. David Saltonstall, the vice president of government affairs for the Central Park Conservancy, joined “The Rush Hour” on Tuesday to talk about the legislation.
