About the Session
We warmly welcome all conference participants to join us for this immersive two-day training! Whether you’re exploring the NAFCC Accreditation system for the first time or deepening your existing knowledge, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn alongside a community of dedicated family child care professionals.
Over 16 clock hours, participants will explore the standards, tools, and protocols that guide accreditation observations with engaging, hands-on opportunities to practice applying them in real-world scenarios. Together, we’ll build a shared understanding of what quality looks like in family child care settings and how observations support that recognition.
For those who meet the qualifications to serve as a NAFCC Accredited Observer, this training also provides the pathway to official credentialing. Qualified participants who successfully pass two assessments, each requiring a score of 80% or higher, will complete the training as credentialed observers, ready to play a meaningful role in upholding the integrity of the accreditation process and supporting family child care educators nationwide.
We can’t wait to learn and grow with you!

Rosa Valenzuela
NAFCC Manager of Accreditation Ops | Accreditation Manager of Operations
My name is Rosa Valenzuela-Reyes, and I serve as the Accreditation Operations Manager at the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC). In my role, I support members throughout the Quality Standards and Recognition process, helping Family Child Care Providers elevate the quality of their home-based early care and education programs and achieve national recognition for their commitment to providing high-quality childcare.
I bring more than 15 years of experience working with and supervising Family Child Care Providers. Prior to joining NAFCC, I served as the Director of a Family Child Care Network in New York City, where I guided providers in meeting regulatory requirements and implementing high-quality early childhood education practices for children of mixed ages. Throughout my career, I have supported providers in achieving NAFCC Accreditation and Recognition, helping them strengthen their roles as educators, caregivers, and successful business owners.
My passion for Family Child Care is deeply personal. As a young single mother of two boys, I relied on the support of a Family Child Care Provider so that I could work and provide for my family. More than 18 years later, that provider remains an important part of our lives and is still considered family. This experience has shaped my commitment to supporting Family Child Care professionals and advocating for the vital work they do every day.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, and traveling the world. I am dedicated to empowering Family Child Care Providers and helping them achieve excellence in the care and education they provide to children and families.
