Microsoft Debunks Reports Suggesting Major Xbox Exclusives Could Come to PlayStation
The green wall stands.
Xbox chief strategy officer has debunked ongoing rumours suggesting that Microsoft may reverse its recently announced Xbox exclusivity game plans.
According to a post on X, chief strategy officer Matthew Ball debunked the rumours, stating, “These rumors are false. Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay exclusive. There are no conversations and have been no conversations to reverse course.” Following these, Ball also highlighted that players can continue to expect signature exclusives from Xbox every year.
These rumors are false. Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will stay exclusive. There are no conversations and have been no conversations to "reverse course." And as we said last week, players can continue to expect signature exclusives from us every year. — Matthew Ball (@ballmatthew) June 16, 2026
Users reacted to the statement with mixed opinions, with some arguing that the exclusives could eventually come to PlayStation 5. One user stated, “Gears E-Day will come on PlayStation. Microsoft ain't going to make money with Game Pass. Gears E-Day will sell more on PlayStation.” while another user added, “Good. Xbox should have immediately clarified the false rumours like this.”
The rumours first emerged after the recent Xbox showcase speculating that Xbox might reverse its exclusivity plans due to issues and other concerns, including fears about the closure of studios such as Ninja Theory and Double Fine.
Moreover, the company, during its Xbox Games Showcase 2026, announced upcoming exclusive titles, including Gears of War: E-Day alongside Clockwork Revolution, which will not be available on PlayStation.
In other news, users can check out the Xbox June 2026 Wave 2 lineup of games, which includes titles such as EA Sports FC 26, RV There Yet?, and more.
