Xbox: Latest Rumour Suggests That Microsoft Could Reportedly Return to Console Exclusives

Microsoft’s gaming division, Xbox, which has shifted toward multiplatform releases, is reportedly considering a return to console exclusives.

The rumour comes from Windows Central’s Jez Corden (via the Xbox Two podcast). Speaking about console exclusivity, he stated, “There are very, very big discussions regarding exclusivity internally at Xbox.” This follows a previous response from Xbox executive Asha Sharma over a X post, who replied “Hear you” to a user's post regarding how Xbox exclusives helped create an identity for the platform.

As of now, Xbox hasn’t officially confirmed anything regarding a return to console exclusives.

Users on Reddit responded to the rumour, expressing hope that it turns out to be true. One user stated, "I hope so. Been an Xbox gamer since 2010, I don't want Xbox to die like this. Make Xbox Great Again, please Asha." Another user added, "I didn't mind those first four crossing over. Gears, Halo, Forza — those are unforgivable."

Microsoft has previously released its first-party Xbox exclusive games on other platforms, starting with Forza Horizon 5, followed by titles like Hellblade 2, Starfield, and others.

In other news, Microsoft has rolled out improvements to its Xbox Achievements system, introducing updated icons and animations, along with the option to hide games from the achievements list and more.
