Using latest NVDA and Windows 11. I installed the classic speech experiment; is this just a group of settings to be used with any available synthesizer? the synths available are the usual,
ESpeak NG, Microsoft Speech API Version 5, 32- and 64- bit, Windows OneCore Voices, and no speech. Just curious if there was supposed to actually be another synthesizer available.
Thanks,
Nance

Can you provide a link or something about this Nancy? There are *so many* add-ons and such floating about now that without a link to what you installed I'm a bit useless!
Thanks

Sean

I've investigated a bit further, and this looks just like it is indeed extra settings for available synthesizers. If I come up with a problem, I'll let you know.
Thanks,

This add-on was presented on another list.  In the course of extensive discussion, it turns out the add-on is a fork of another add-on and this was nowhere acknowledged by the forker, if that is a proper term.  Also, the forker vibe coded any changes he made.  Vibe coding is notorious for introducing security vulnerabilities and vibe coding means the code the A.I. produced is not reviewed by a person or persons who understand code and can spot such errors and other possible errors.

This add-on, both the original and the forked version are not in the Add-on Store.  We don't know if the original was vibe coded or not.

Since A.I.. has resulted in lots of vibe coded NVDA add-ons whose safety and proper performance haven't been vetted, I recommend against using add-ons except those that come from known, trusted add-on developers.  I have adopted that policy and use nothing whose developer's reputation is unknown to me.

Hi,
Are you talking about the following:
If yes, the author of this add-on has admitted to using AI for coding. As noted in the following issue:
The forked version is in the add-on store submission queue with submission authorization requested. IN the meantime, Josh has submitted numerous pull requests on the original add-on version.
Cheers,
Joseph
