I have a postgres target and a user who can access it. I do not allow users to set their own credentials and users log in via SSO, so they do not have passwords.
When a user tries to connect to this postgres target, the cli (psql 18) instantly returns "authentication failed" and that is that.
Once I edit the user and turn off "Any credential" on postgresql and make sure only "In-browser auth" is turned on, it works; the user gets a prompt to log in via browser auth and the whole authentication flow works fine.
I cannot seem to set this setting on the postgres target, even though I found some docs alluding that I could.
I also cannot set this setting as a global for all users.
This means I manually need to go in to each new SSO user and change this setting to make the postgres targets work.
Is there a more sensible way to get this to function properly? I'd prefer not having to edit dozens of users by hand...
