As a current sign that the "writing is on the wall" for VBScript's RegExp, I recently discovered that Malwarebytes AV defaults to blocking any attempt to use VBScript's RegExp in VBA code and in compiled twinBASIC ActiveX DLL's. The "block" can be turned off via MWB's settings, but it serves as motivation to start looking for alternatives.
There is @sihlfall's pure VBA alternative available which is early in dev but looks very promising. I've experimented with it by building a VBScript-look-alike wrapper around it to test in my tB projects, without having to make any changes to my original code. It worked for me - MWB none-the-wiser. With this post, I'm hoping to bring some attention to that project to ensure that it gets the love it deserves and continues in development.
Another potential alternative is to use a static-linked library such as pcre2 in twinBASIC. An example is @jpbro /@tannerhelland's old VB6 project. I was able to import that into twinBASIC without issues and it works, albeit only in 32-bit mode. Extending that to 64-bit is beyond my skillset, but hopefully someone capable will try to tackle that soon.
Anyway, hoping to bring more attention to this and get ideas on what others are thinking about potential replacements. Are there other good alternatives available?

With MS's deprecation of VBScript and the coming planned phaseout periods for associated functionality, there appears to be an opportunity for twinBASIC to fill the void. RegExp is one of those potentially doomed components.
