TruLens roles are defined in the Contributor
Ladder. Area Reviewer scopes are authoritative in
.github/CODEOWNERS.
Affiliation is self-declared and recorded because two rules depend on it: sponsors for Area Reviewer and above must not all share an employer with the candidate, and we track how concentrated the maintainer group is in any one organization. Roles are held by individuals, not by or through their employers, so changing jobs means editing a row here and nothing else. "Independent" and "Student" are complete answers. Anyone who would rather not say can put "Not declared".
