Usage: python TraP_QC_plots.py [options] <database> <dataset_id>
Options:
-h, --help show this help message and exit
-b MAXBL, --maxbl=MAXBL
Maximum baseline used in imaging (km)
-d DETECTION, --detection=DETECTION
PySE detection threshold
-a ANALYSIS, --analysis=ANALYSIS
PYSE analysis threshold
-g GRID, --grid=GRID PySE grid size
-r RADIUS, --radius=RADIUS
PySE radius used for sourcefinding (pixels)
-l DEBLEND, --deblend=DEBLEND
PySE deblend on/off
-t NTHRESH, --nthresh=NTHRESH
PySE number of deblend thresholds
-s SYS_ERR, --sys_err=SYS_ERR
Systematic position error (arcsec)
-c SEARCH_RADIUS, --search_radius=SEARCH_RADIUS
Radius used in gsm.py to find skymodel (degrees)
-f FLUX_LIMIT, --flux_limit=FLUX_LIMIT
Min flux used for analysis of flux ratios (Jy)
-m MAX_CUT, --max_cut=MAX_CUT
Cut on theoretical noise ratio to clip images that are (MAX_CUT*median_rms_rms) above the median_rms_ratio. The default is 5 sigma.
Requirements:
gsm.py, pyse, os, glob, pyfits, sys, numpy, datetime, coords, math, matplotlib, optparse
Access to TraP databases via dump_image_data.py
Instructions:
1. If you are NOT using heastro1, you will need to edit the script dump_image_data_v1.py to give the correct path to your dataset.
2. Run TraP on your restored.corr images and force it to reject all images (in quality_check.parset set "high_bound=1"). Note the database you are using and the dataset_id for entry later.
3. Create a folder to run this script in.
4. Create fits images of all the images you are using. I recommend using this command:
for i in *.restored.corr; do image2fits in=${i} out=${your_working_folder}/${i}.fits; done
5. You are now ready to run this script. Go to ${your_working_folder} and run:
python TraP_QC_plots.py [options] <database> <dataset_id>
The default parameters for all the options have been optimised for the RSM dataset, so check the values on lines 350-360 suit your requirements before running this script.
Output to screen at the end of the script are any extremely poor images which have been discounted from this analysis. These are likely to be cases where AWImager has failed to image the data.
In the working folder, a number of png images are output which show an overview of your dataset. Further information about these plots will be given on the LOFAR wiki pages soon.
Note this script will take a significant amount of time to run - so I recommend running it in a screen.
Feedback on this script is welcome, please e-mail: b.a.rowlinson@uva.nl
