This policy explains how the OpenAkita name, logos, icons, screenshots, and other brand assets may be used.
OpenAkita source code is licensed separately under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only (AGPL-3.0-only). That license does not grant trademark rights or permission to use OpenAkita brand assets except as described here.
You may use the OpenAkita name in a factual way to:
- Refer to the upstream OpenAkita project.
- Say that your project is "based on OpenAkita" or "compatible with OpenAkita".
- Link to the official project at
https://github.com/openakita/openakitaorhttps://openakita.ai. - Preserve required copyright, license, NOTICE, and attribution information.
You may not, without prior written permission:
- Use the OpenAkita name, logo, icon, or brand assets as the primary branding for a modified distribution, hosted service, product, company, domain name, app listing, package, container image, or social account.
- Present a fork, modified build, hosted service, or commercial offering as the official OpenAkita project.
- Remove, obscure, or misrepresent upstream attribution, copyright notices, license notices, or NOTICE entries.
- Use OpenAkita branding in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or official status.
Forks and modified distributions may use their own product names and branding, but they must:
- Preserve legally required OpenAkita copyright, license, NOTICE, and attribution information.
- Clearly state that they are not the official OpenAkita project if there is any chance of confusion.
- Avoid using OpenAkita logos, icons, screenshots, or other brand assets as their own branding.
Examples of acceptable wording:
- "This project is based on OpenAkita."
- "Compatible with OpenAkita."
- "A fork of OpenAkita with additional features."
Examples of unacceptable wording:
- "Official OpenAkita Pro" for an unaffiliated product.
- "OpenAkita Cloud" for an unaffiliated hosted service.
- Using the OpenAkita logo as the app icon for a modified distribution.
For permission to use OpenAkita brand assets beyond this policy, contact the OpenAkita maintainers.
