Brief summary
Every time I use the BC640 device, I have to manually switch this option whenever I reconnect.
Steps to reproduce
- Connect an Optelec ALVA 6 series display, such as an ALVA BC640 / BC680 / 640 Comfort.
- In NVDA, open Settings -> Braille.
- Uncheck "HID keyboard input simulation" for the ALVA display.
- Confirm that the setting works for the current NVDA session. For example, NVDA's braille input table is used after HID keyboard simulation is disabled.
- Disconnect and reconnect the display, or restart NVDA and reconnect the display.
- Open Settings -> Braille again.
Actual behavior
"HID keyboard input simulation" is checked again after reconnecting / restarting NVDA, even though the user previously unchecked it.
The setting works during the current session, but the user's explicit choice is not remembered.
Expected behavior
After the user explicitly changes "HID keyboard input simulation" in NVDA's Braille settings, NVDA should remember and restore that choice for the ALVA driver on future connections.
This should not change the default behavior for users who have never changed the setting. If no saved value exists, NVDA can continue to reflect the display's current state.
NVDA logs, crash dumps and other attachments
I can provide an NVDA log if needed.
But this issue doesn't seem to need logs to explain anything; I've already done some investagate on it.

Have you tried any other versions of NVDA? If so, please report their behaviors.
Version 2025.1, and even earlier versions, are the same.
