Command to switch keyboard layout #19211

Description

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe

While testing NVDA or its add-ons, e.g. triaging issues and trying to reproduce, I need to switch keyboard layout to use the same as the one used by the op that has reported the issue. I need to open keyboard settings, change the layout and validate. I'd like to have a command to toggle keyboard layout still faster.

Note: Such command may also be of use for someone using both an external keyboard with numpad and an integrated laptop keyboard without any numpad. Though, even for people in such a situation, I am not sure that they switch keyboard layout in real life. It seem to me that each user has their preferred layout and sticks to it, no matter if they use a keyboard with or without a numpad.

Describe the solution you'd like

Implement an unassigned command to toggle keyboard layout in config.
I expect this command to be used only in specific cases, so it does not requires a default gesture to be assigned.

Describe alternatives you've considered

  • Continue changing the keyboard layout through Keyboard settings dialog; slightly less efficient (but not so much)
  • Use a specific profile. Not totally suitable in case one wants to use another manual profile.
  • Implement this in an add-on (e.g. integrate it to NVDA Dev & Test Toolbox). It is totally acceptable. I'd just like to know NV Access position wether they want it in NVDA or not.

Additional context

Waiting for NV Access triaging or closing this issue to know if I should implement this in NVDA or in an add-on.
