All IANA-registered schemes, as listed here, should be supported and get auto-linkified.
A validation function should be written for each scheme, in order to minimize false positives, and then added to linkify-it's collection of schemes: https://github.com/markdown-it/linkify-it/blob/master/index.js#L49
There seem to be 183 schemes listed there so this will take a while.
If somebody can find a list of the most popular schemes perhaps we can start by adding support for the top 10 or so.
