Step Name Alignment Issues
Found via manifest scan of all .lock.yml step names (/tmp/gh-aw/agent/step-alignment-input.json).
The project uses one-word imperative forms Checkout <target> and Setup <component> consistently across ~300 compiled workflows (see glossary-aligned naming patterns tracked in cache memory, and prior accepted fix #30512 for the same Set up → Setup class). Three hand-authored custom-job steps deviate from this with the two-word verb phrases Check out / Set up.
1. [High Priority] .github/workflows/aw-issue-clustering.md:72 — Check out trusted reconciliation code
- Compiled:
.github/workflows/aw-issue-clustering.lock.yml:1781
- Breaks the universal
Checkout <target> pattern (e.g. "Checkout actions folder", "Checkout repository").
- Suggested:
Checkout trusted reconciliation code
2. [High Priority] .github/workflows/aw-issue-clustering.md:76 — Set up safe-output helpers
- Compiled:
.github/workflows/aw-issue-clustering.lock.yml:1788
- Breaks the universal
Setup <component> pattern (e.g. "Setup Scripts", "Setup Python", "Setup Go").
- Suggested:
Setup safe-output helpers (verb-form fix only; the safe-output singular/lowercase wording itself is a separate, already maintainer-rejected naming class — not re-raised here).
3. [Medium Priority] .github/workflows/daily-workflow-security-model.md:24 — Set up Go for the compiled-profile verifier
- Compiled:
.github/workflows/daily-workflow-security-model.lock.yml:100024 (approx. line in compiled manifest)
- Same
Set up → Setup verb-form deviation.
- Suggested:
Setup Go for the compiled-profile verifier
Agentic Task Description

.md file's name: field for the listed steps as shown above.
- Run
make recompile (or gh aw compile <workflow>.md) to regenerate the corresponding .lock.yml files.
- Verify the compiled lock files now contain the one-word
Checkout/Setup forms.
