A few locale files have placeholder problems that show up at runtime.
Typo'd placeholder (renders literally)
chat.errors.promptTooLong
- en:
Prompt is too long (max {{max}} characters)
- es-ES:
El mensaje es demasiado largo (máximo {{mix}} caracteres)
{{mix}} doesn't correspond to anything in the source string, so it never
interpolates. Spanish users see the literal text {{mix}} in the message.
Dropped placeholders (value silently lost)
These si-LK strings are missing placeholders present in the English source:
alerts.confirmAddLibrary is missing {{numShapes}}
errors.fileTooBig is missing {{maxSize}}
errorSplash.trackedToSentry is missing {{eventId}}
These don't render anything broken, they just lose the number, size, or event
ID the sentence exists to communicate.
Notes
Found these by running an open-source i18n checker over the locale files.
Since translations are Crowdin-managed, the fixes probably belong there rather
than in a PR against this repo, so flagging here instead of sending a patch.
Happy to open one if you'd prefer the files corrected directly.
Might also be worth a placeholder-parity check in CI between en.json and the
translated files. This class of bug is invisible until someone reports a
rendered string.
