future of msbuild for mono #137

Description

@MakiWolf

What will be the plan for the future of mono msbuild?

Mono msbuild seems to be not developed any more.

There is also an open pull request but it is not merged since a long time.

Should dotdevelop create a fork of it to continue its development? Because mono msbuild is widely integrated in dotdevelop.

Because actual we have no version 17 of it which is compatible with version of .net 7 and 8

Interesting
I have found out when creating a .NET 4.7.2 (old net framework) and than run new dotnet msbuild (which I think is the new open source msbuild version from github) it compiled succesfull on windows.

On Linux it says by the same project

dotnet msbuild
MSBuild version 17.7.3+4fca21998 for .NET
/usr/share/dotnet/sdk/7.0.403/Microsoft.Common.CurrentVersion.targets(1241,5): error MSB3644: The reference assemblies for .NETFramework,Version=v4.7.2 were not found. To resolve this, install the Developer Pack (SDK/Targeting Pack) for this framework version or retarget your application. You can download .NET Framework Developer Packs at https://aka.ms/msbuild/developerpacks [/home/maki/Downloads/ConsoleApp1-master/ConsoleApp1/ConsoleApp1.csproj]

So it does not find mono .net framework.

when running msbuild without dotnet on Linux it use the mono version of it and compiled successfully.
