In darktable I import both JPEG and RAW into the library. (It is sometimes convenient to compare JPEGs and RAW developments that way.)
Now when I apply Auto group to a selection, the following happens:
For the first pair of images of a group, both JPEG and RAW are included, with the first RAW being the group leader. This is expected and what I hoped would happen.
For the following images, up to the gap in time signalling the end of the group:
The RAW images get added to the group
The JPEG images do not get added and remain group-less.
I would like to have all JPEGs and RAWs added to the group.
If I have time I might look into this myself, but that is not likely in the next few weeks. We'll see.
If you need them I can provide a sample burst of images or two.
I imported a bunch of RAW+JPEG pairs then turned AutoGrouper loose on them. Most of the groups worked OK and consisted of the RAWs and the JPEGs. Some missed the first JPEG (the one that was originally grouped with the group leader). So, something is going on but it may be somewhat random.
Ah; ungrouping before running AutoGrouper got all the RAWs and JPEGs into the group. So it looks like (for me) it is working correctly when I first ungroup the images.
Unfortunately it puts the first JPEG as group leader, not the RAW.
Which can then be fixed with the "change group leader" script. It also works for groups with more than one JPEG+RAW pair.
These three steps - ungroup, autogroup, change leader to RAW on the same selection - give me a workaround I can live with.

What happens if you ungroup the RAW+JPEG pairs before running AutoGrouper? I'm thinking that "breaking" the RAW+JPEG pair may cause confusion.
