Add signature detection for a new AI coding tool (e.g. Amazon Q Developer) #495

Description

@shenxianpeng

commit-check can detect commit trailers left by AI coding tools (used by the ai_attribution policy). We currently recognize: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, Gemini, Cursor, Devin, Aider, Windsurf, Tabby.

This issue: add one more tool that isn't covered yet — for example Amazon Q Developer, Sourcegraph Cody, Continue, Cline, JetBrains AI, or Zed AI.

One tool per PR, please. Comment which one you're taking so contributors don't overlap.

Where

commit_check/ai_signatures_data.py — the module docstring includes an "Adding a new tool" guide. Add a KnownAiTool entry with the tool's Co-authored-by: trailer pattern and register it in ALL_KNOWN_TOOLS.

Steps

  1. Find the real commit-message artifact the tool leaves (e.g. Co-authored-by: Amazon Q <...>). Link your source in the PR.
  2. Add a KnownAiTool with a unique name and pattern(s). Anchor the email where possible to avoid false positives on human names.
  3. Add a test in tests/ai_signatures_test.py asserting the trailer is detected, and that a similar-looking human co-author is not flagged.

Acceptance criteria

  • detect_ai_signatures() returns the new tool for a real trailer.
  • A human co-author with a similar name is not flagged.
  • The full test suite passes.
