TST: a failing image test against mpldev #19483
Description
astropy/visualization/wcsaxes/tests/test_images.py::TestBasic::test_noncelestial_angular
has been failing for a couple days against mpl-dev
for reference here's a screenshot of the diff
I don't know yet if this is a regression or an intentional change on their side. This will be the first question to answer

so @ayshih, since you authored the change, you're probably in an excellent position to assess wether the effect on this specific test is the intended one. It sure looks like it to me, at a glance.
